Economic Growth and Infrastructure in Anne Arundel County

Allison Pickard supports responsible and balanced economic growth for Anne Arundel County.  We must ensure that our infrastructure keeps pace with residential development.  We must continue to encourage revitalization of our commercial centers in District 2 and around the county.  We should be looking to increase our commercial tax base as a means of increasing county revenue. Issues such as workforce development, a strong school system and transportation improvements will help Anne Arundel County be a community well suited for new business development.   Allison has a track record of seeking pragmatic solutions and working to find common ground among community leaders. We must work together to nurture the on-going economic growth and fiscal responsibility in District 2 and throughout Anne Arundel County.

Strengthening our Economic Outlook

Allison has made tough choices during uncertain times. Allison has fought for more competitive salaries across our County workforce, investment in vital infrastructure, and record level increases in our Revenue Reserve funds. Through responsible budgeting, our County is on solid fiscal footing.

Economic Development – Redevelopment

Bill 64-20
Unanimous vote on the Glen Burnie Sustainable Community Overlay:

Allison crafted and passed the Glen Burnie Sustainable Community Overlay with a unanimous vote of the County Council. The new policy facilitates redevelopment of underutilized or deteriorated properties by allowing flexibility of design, building types, and densities; a wide range of redevelopment alternatives; creative uses or mixes of uses; and the assemblage of lots. It encourages pedestrian connections, community enhancements, and high-quality design. The Glen Burnie Sustainable Community mapped area encompasses vital areas of our community that have the potential to be re-imagined tapping into community assets such as our B & A Trail.
